Side Squeaks
                         SIDE SQUEAKS

This trick is a great linking trick. Riders like Jason Brown are able to take this trick to the next level by throwing them into full barflips to hitchhikers and kicking them out at full speed between impossibly hard tricks. This is a great trick to know if you are into front wheel tricks or the style that goes with it. While not required it is helpful to know how to do fire hydrants as well as tailwhips before learning side squeaks. You should know how to do squeakers though. We will be going over the most BASIC way to do this trick though...
Begin by rolling at a VERY slow speed with your left foot on the front left peg and your right foot on the LEFT pedal. Hold the grips normally.
Grab the front brakes and go into an endo- At the same time take your right foot off the pedal and put it on top of the front tire- ALSO take your right hand off the right grip and grab the seat. Hold either the nose of the seat OR the back of the seat- whichever is more comfortable for you.
Release the front brakes and pull down on the front tire with your right foot. This will shoot the handlebars forward and roll you backwards.
When you begin to fall forward grab the front brakes and put your right foot back on top of the front tire.
REPEAT!
The hard part of this trick is NOT doing the squeaks themselves. The hard part is maintaining your stance- your side to side balance.
With squeakers you bring the seat to your butt to make the trick 'solid'. With side squeaks your should have the seat up tight against your right leg. Because you are MOVING your right leg it can make this difficult to hold solidly. It will take several weeks/months usually to get used to holding the seat in the correct position.
To ride out let bike lean a LITTLE more forward then usual and grab the front brakes after a squeak.
Put your right foot on the top tube of the bike take your right hand off the seat and put it back on the right grip as the back wheel falls to the ground.
Pull your left foot off the front left peg and put it on the pedals and quickly pedal down...
... Ride away. - This may take QUITE a while to learn to do as it all needs to happen quickly!
Do not let yourself be frustrated by this trick. It comes to many riders in a day- Some riders may not learn the trick for many months. If it does not seem to be coming easily to you then feel free to learn some other tricks as you will find that side squeaks are NOT a critical trick. Fire hydrants and pinky squeaks are more fun to do anyway. :o)
